Trailer Technician – Job Description

Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years experience in the inspection and repair of semi-trailers. A thorough knowledge of electrical, air, and structural systems on dry vans and flatbed trailers. Any experience with tanker-trailers and roll-off carriages is a strong plus.
- Ability to diagnose brake, abs, suspension, and body issues. Computer diagnostic experience is a plus.
- Expert welding & cutting skills are required. Strong experience in MIG welding with carbon steel. Mig welding experience with aluminum & stainless steel and any TIG experience are also a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of the safe and proper operation of the equipment and tools required to perform repairs to the bodies and suspensions of various types of trailers. These will include plasma cutters, MIG welders, cutting torches, grinders, rivet guns, jacks, etc.
- Tech is expected to have a proper tool box and all required hand tools.
Job Duties
- Perform Annual FHWA Inspections and PMI services
- Replacement and repair of various suspension parts (hangers, equalizers, air bags, etc.)
- Diagnosis and repair of ABS brake systems
- Brake services including shoes, drums, wheel seals, s-cams, and bushings.
- Panel, rail, & radius repair, sectioning, and replacement (buck riveting)
- Overhead & swing door repair and replacement (rollers, hinges, panels, tracks, etc.)
- Floor repair, sectioning, and replacement including crossmembers
- Aluminum & fiberglass roof repair, sectioning, and replacement
- Liftgate repair experience is a plus (rail & tuckaway) – Electrical, hydraulic, structural
